Our Story
Veteran-owned and locally rooted: what that actually means here
“Veteran-owned” and “locally owned” get printed on a lot of signs. At Grass Roots they describe how the place actually runs.
Owned by the people behind the counter
Grass Roots is independently owned and operated right here in Cape Girardeau — not a chain, not an out-of-state operator with a local sign. The owners are in the building, and decisions about what goes in the case get made by people who answer to their neighbors, not a corporate buyer.
Discipline shows up in the details
Military service teaches you that standards are things you keep when nobody’s watching. Here that looks like a case we can vouch for jar by jar: every product from a licensed Missouri grower, every batch lab-tested, every question at the counter answered straight — including “that one’s not for you, try this instead.”
Small on purpose
As a microdispensary we can’t stock everything — so we don’t try. We hand-pick from craft growers we know by name: Blüme out of Kansas City, Monsta Farms in Springfield, Urban Farm’s indoor rooms, Twin Elephant. You can see their facilities for yourself on our growers page.
Rooted in Cape Girardeau
The name isn’t an accident. From Stay Rooted rewards to the education series on this blog, the goal is the same: be the dispensary this community is glad it has. Come see us — counter or drive-thru, we’ll take care of you either way.
