Bongs & Water Pipes
A water pipe filters smoke through water for a cooler, smoother hit.

What it is
A bong pulls smoke through water before you inhale, which cools and smooths it. Because hits can be bigger, bongs deliver more in one draw — so ease in.

The full picture
A bong cools and lightly filters smoke by pulling it through water before it reaches you, which is why a big hit can feel surprisingly smooth. That smoothness is also the catch: it’s easy to inhale a much larger dose than you would from a pipe without it feeling harsh in the moment.
Fresh water matters more than people expect — it’s what keeps each hit clean-tasting and catches some tar and ash. Percolators and diffusers add extra bubbles and cooling for an even smoother pull. Start with a small draw the first time; the effect can arrive fast and strong.
Step by step
- Add fresh water
Fill until the downstem/percolator is just covered. Fresh water each session.
- Grind and pack the bowl
Pack loosely so air flows through the flower.
- Light while drawing
Light the flower and draw slowly to fill the chamber with vapor-smoke.
- Pull the bowl and clear
Lift the bowl out and inhale the chamber, then set everything down.
What you’ll need
- A water pipe (bong)
- Fresh, clean water
- Ground flower
- A lighter
- A cleaning kit — bongs get resiny quickly
Common mistakes
- Taking a full-chamber rip on the first hit — bongs deliver more than they look.
- Reusing old, dirty water (it tastes bad and defeats the point).
- Over-filling the water so it splashes up the mouthpiece.
- Packing the bowl too tight for airflow.
Tips from our team
- Fresh water every time keeps it smooth and clean.
- Take smaller draws — bongs deliver more than they look.
- Clean regularly to keep the flavor crisp.
- Ask us about added percs/diffusers for even smoother hits.
Stay safe
Bong hits can be deceptively strong. One small draw, then wait before the next.

Bongs & Water Pipes — common questions
Are bongs “healthier” than joints?
Water cools the smoke and catches some ash, but it’s still combustion. If your goal is less irritation, a dry-herb vaporizer heats without burning — ask us about the difference.
How much water do I use?
Just enough to cover the bottom of the downstem or percolator — usually an inch or two. Too little doesn’t filter; too much splashes.
