Pipes

A hand pipe is the simplest, most portable way to smoke flower — pack, light, enjoy.

Glass spoon hand pipe

What it is

A hand pipe (or “spoon”) has a bowl for your flower and a mouthpiece, usually with a small side hole called a carb. No water, no rolling — just pack and go.

The full picture

A hand pipe is the no-fuss way to smoke flower: nothing to roll, nothing to fill, and it’s pocket-sized. Because you only light what you’re about to inhale, a pipe wastes very little flower compared with a joint that burns between puffs.

The carb — the little hole on the side — is the trick most new users miss. Covering it while you light builds smoke in the chamber; releasing it as you inhale “clears” that smoke in one clean pull. Glass also heats up fast, so give the bowl a second before you handle it.

Step by step

  1. Grind and pack the bowl

Break up flower and pack the bowl loosely — airflow matters.

  2. Cover the carb

Hold a finger over the carb hole (if your pipe has one) as you light.

  3. Light while drawing

Touch the flame to the edge of the bowl and draw gently.

  4. Release the carb and clear

Lift your finger and inhale the collected smoke, then set it down.

What you’ll need

  • A glass hand pipe (a “spoon”)
  • Ground flower
  • A lighter
  • A poke tool or paperclip to clear ash
  • Isopropyl alcohol & coarse salt for easy cleaning

Common mistakes

  • Packing the bowl so tight no air pulls through.
  • Forgetting to cover — then release — the carb.
  • Torching the whole bowl instead of “cornering” one edge.
  • Never cleaning it — resin buildup ruins the taste fast.

Tips from our team

  • Pack loosely for better airflow.
  • Light just the edge of the bowl to conserve flower.
  • Take small hits — you can always go again.
  • Clean it regularly for the best taste.

Stay safe

Glass gets hot — give it a moment. Start small, especially with a new strain.

Pipes — common questions

What is “cornering”?

Lighting just the edge of the bowl instead of the whole thing. It keeps unlit flower fresh for the next hit and shares evenly if you’re passing it around.

How do I keep a pipe from tasting harsh?

Clean it regularly with isopropyl alcohol and coarse salt, and take smaller hits. A clean pipe tastes dramatically better than a resined-up one.
